  1. The 5th SS Panzer Division Wiking was one of the elite Panzer divisions of the thirty eight Waffen SS divisions. It was recruited from foreign volunteers in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, the Netherlands and Belgium under the command of German officers. During the course of World War II, the division progressed from a motorised infantry formation to a Panzer division and served on the Eastern Front during World War II. It surrendered in May 1945 to the advancing American forces in Austria. Originally founded on May 15th, 2015, the 5. SS is an in-game "realism" unit for the game Days of War (DoW). This unit is comprised mostly of members from the NW community. Lead by FancyPants or Hauptsturmführer Rutger Müller a veteran of Day of Defeat: Source, the 5. SS is a relaxed new realism unit aiming to help start the DoW realism and competitive scene. If you are interested in joining for both realism events and competitive (6v6) matches, please add Rutger Müller on steam on steam Hauptsturmführer - D. Canavan Rottenführer - A. Gardner Mann - C. 2. One of my all time favorite Realism Units of DODS right here. Before I took that final plunge and joined my first unit, it was the 5th RB's server that introduced me to the classic realism version that the DODS Realism community played religiously. The only reason I never joined the 5th RB and joined someone else was because I was finally talked into it by a very inspirational individual who like me was in the military and we connected. I also felt a little hesitant due to the 5th RB's size at that time. It was HUGE! But these guys are always very respectful, run a good server and after getting to know them a bit more now in DOW, I can say none of that has changed it looks like. Glad to be in a position to work more closely with you guys than before. Would love to see the rise of the 5th RB again from the ground up this time. If you look at our statistics in eachothers unit pages, you will notice that we are very similar, a clear indication of how much influence the 5th left on me even years after I left DODS and went into another game to start my unit. Good luck Rangers! See you in game.
